Facial peels are divided into three main categories;

1. Superficial/light facial peel; this facial peel consists of the application of mild chemical acids to treat problems such as pigmentary changes, fine wrinkling, sun damaged/photo-aged skin or mild scarring. Often used is a low concentration of glycolic or salicylic acid - or another member of this acid group.
 

Light facial skin peeling is generally safe, effective, and inexpensive. It produces excellent results and enjoys wide patient acceptance. There are usually no significant complications.
 

2. Medium depth facial peel; this peel comprises of acids such as trichloracetic acid (TCA,) and is commonly used for photoaged skin, warts, and wrinkles. moreover, TCA peels can also remove tattoos over time. Naturally, medium peels will produce improved results over superficial or light peels, but don't expose you to the increased risk of complications associated with deeper peels.
 

3, Deep facial peel; this chemical skin peeling is usually performed with the more aggressive and toxic chemical such as phenol. Deep chemical peels are used for more severe abnormalities of the skin. They're much more extensive in their procedure and require thorough patient screening and evaluation, as well as intensive training on the part of the physician performing it.

Experience has shown that the following influences sometimes cause exacerbations in certain cases of acne;

1. Cosmetic face creams and cosmetic lotions, including so-called skin foods, skin tonics, lubricant creams and vanishing creams; also heavy pancake make-ups.

2. Rough or woolen garments, furs etc, next to the skin.

3. Contact with oils, tars, chlorine and fluorine.

4. Chocolate.

5. Iodized salt. In areas like New York City and in other places where the air, food and water contain more than sufficient iodine, iodized salt not only is unnecessary but may sometimes produce or aggravate acne and other dermatoses.

6 Shellfish and salt water fish.

7. Sharp cheeses.

8. Nuts.

9. Pork and pork products.

10. All medications containing iodine or iodides.

11. All medications containing bromides.

12. Sedative drugs. Even aspirin and barbiturates sometimes make acne worse or cause new eruptions.

However, according to dermatology, none of these substances is the cause of acne vulgaris. Many acne patients can be exposed to any or all of them without the slightest negative effect. Many patients can pig out on chocolate, for example, or continually use iodized salt and not be harmed. But others with apparently identical clinical features continue to have exacerbations and resist treatment until the chocolate, iodized salt or other such item is eliminated.

In addition, according to dermatologists, there's no evidence of a general disturbance of fat or carbohydrate metabolism in acne vulgaris. On the contrary, all modern studies indicate the lack of any such systemic disturbance. Therefore, the undoubted benefits which are sometimes obtained through reducing fat and sugar intake may perhaps be due to the coincidental elimination of some particular harmful articles of food.

Therefore, chocolate will as a rule be eliminated when sweets are and most pork products will be avoided by the patient on a low fat diet. Based on these premises, it's believed that the general all-inclusive radical reductions in fat and carbohydrate intake are unnecessary and even contraindicated in acne patients with normal weight.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that topical tretinoin/Retin-A, a vitamin-A derivative used for the treatment of common acne, can make a significant improvement in aging skin.

**Interestingly the singer/actress Cher credits the daily application of Retin-A cream for her lack of crows feet around the eyes, as well as extremely youthful-looking skin.

The 16-week study conducted by John J. Voorhees, M.D. of the University
of Michigan Medical Center and his colleagues, was a randomized, double-blind study of topical tretinoin in the treatment of photo-aging. This means that that neither patients or the dermatologists knew which cream contained Retin-A and which was plain, until the Retin-A began to work.

The 30 patients tested had skin samples
taken and analyzed. The before and after pictures showed a dramatic change over time. Fourteen of the 15 patients who received tretinoin to the face had improvement in photoaging, whereas none of the plain cream treated patient's faces improved.

Controlled clinical studies have proven that photo-damaged (sun-damaged) skin responds favorably to Retin-A. Retin-A stimulates the skin to step up cell production and promotes the development of the underlying layers of the skin.

With tretinoin, new skin cells push toward the surface and this clears the skin of dead cells and other debris. There's a fading of age spots, and a stimulation of collagen production. At the same time there's an increase in the amount of blood circulating to the skin, and the skin has a healthier appearance. Cell growth becomes more even.

Physicians always have closely observed the effects of tretinoin on the skin. The drug (available by prescription only) begins to work almost immediately following application. Within a week changes begin to occur. The activity goes on for some weeks before patients can actually see the changes. There's also cheaper generic brands of Retin-A which work just as well.

Within a month or two, the skin takes on a rosy glow and becomes less wrinkled. It has more elasticity, less blotching and has better color. Researchers believe Retin-A may be used as a
preventive measure to retard and decelerate photo-aging; thus, tretinoin is ideal as a part of a woman's daily skin care regime (it is a part of mine!)

Hello lovelies! We've all heard that worrying is bad for our HEALTH (and causes wrinkles for that matter,) and there's even a wise saying that worry has never yet helped solve a problem. This is so true! Worry is bad for the health, never helps solve our problems, and are a definite hindrance to their solution.

Have you ever said to yourself; "I'll sleep over it,"when faced with a tough problem to solve? By dismissing it from your conscious mind and submitting it to your subconscious mind (which has a much better chance to work while we're asleep than while we're awake,) you're actually practicing AUTO-SUGGESTION in a most beneficent way!

Unless we
learn to SUBMIT our problems and troubles to our subconscious selves, in other words, to 'sleep over them,' worrying will only affect your health! And submission actually brings us sleep :-)

The best part of this habit of sleeping over something, or sleeping
OFF your problem, is that such a submissive attitude of mind almost never fails to bring sleep, even to the habitual sufferer from insomnia. And, after sleeping, smile.... better still, laugh (you can!)

For your problem has ceased to be your problem.... and that rather mar
velous 'other self' is about to solve it (or has already solved it,) and more likely, will soon almost effortlessly make it vanish into thin air.

It's like our conscious minds are always imagining that behind the door there's lurking all sorts of un-guessed dreads and dangers - but throw aside the door, and behold, in reality, there's not much behind the door at all - but emptiness and light :-)

• Choose low-fat or lean meats and poultry, such as chicken without the skin, or top round steak (a lean cut of beef.)

• Prepare meat, fish and poultry using low-fat cooking methods, such as baking, broiling or grilling.

• Vary your protein choices. Try fish, beans, peas, nuts and seeds. For example, try making a main dish without meat for dinner, such as rice or pasta with beans, at least once a week.

It's quite well-known that apple cider vinegar helps in weight loss and the fight against excess weight. It turns out that the pectin in it can help you to lose weight, by adjusting and speeding up the body's metabolism.


Besides using Herbalife nutritional/weight loss products daily, I personally drink a full glass of water with a spoon of apple cider vinegar added to it, several times a day. And it's so incredibly GOOD for you!

In addition, apple cider vinegar improves bowel function. It also normalizes the sodium-potassium balance of the body, helping to reduce the appetite and ultimately causing you to lose weight.

If you want to use apple cider vinegar to get healthy and to lose weight, drink it diluted in water, and drink it 30 minutes before meals.

The proportions are;

1-2 tablespoons of vinegar in 1 cup of water.

*Honey can also be added to the vinegar drink for a more palatable taste (but not recommended to add if you want to lose weight.)

Interestingly, apple cider vinegar is an ingredient in some my Herbalife nutritional and weight loss supplements for the very same reasons. Those supplements (along with my daily apple cider drinks) are effective in reducing the feeling of hunger - that ultimately allows you to consume less food.

To lose weight, reduce hunger and
speed up your body's metabolism, it's also recommended to add apple cider vinegar to various salads, and replacing common salt with it. As an excess of salt is known to be harmful to the body and prevents weight loss.
